About
We are family run, literally, two brothers who want to make an impact and change the perception of painters and other contractors alike. Evoke Painting was created as a connection to our Father, John McComas, a painter in the Baltimore area for over 50 years. Our Father was a master of his craft. He taught us about the trade at a young age.
We believe that high quality paint, stain and specialty coatings can transform any space. We also believe that the customer experience is just as important as the color you choose for that space. These days everyone is busy and time is important to us all. We are committed to showing up, being on time and communicating what we do to allow you the time to do what you do.
We want our clients to be informed about the products and materials we use. We want our clients to be informed about the tools and equipment we use and how they affect a desired outcome. We want you to know the what, how and why!
We assess each project individually. We consider all aspects of the project not just the work. We work with clients to prioritize their needs including accommodating schedules, working with other contractors and using the best tools and products to execute the plan.
Lastly, we want our experience and your experience with us to be memorable. We want the transformation of your space to bring you joy. To some people it will be just paint but for us it is a connection to our Father and the memories that painting evokes for us and our family.
Paul McComas
After attending Mt. St. Joseph High School and Towson University Paul turned his attention to the service industry. The concept of providing tremendous service is not lost on him. Paul has spent the last twenty years in the service industry. He approaches each client and job with the idea that each of those is unique. After almost 15 years in the insurance restoration industry, this was the only constant.
“Everyone has their own unique needs and desires whether it’s paint color, scheduling demands or budget.”
Paul believes in setting expectations right at the beginning of the project. He wants the client to understand the product that is being delivered and be held accountable for it.
Paul resides in Baltimore County with his wife, two children and four dogs. He enjoys spending time hiking, playing sports and exercising with the family!
John McComas Jr.
John went to work with his father right out of high school. Because John Sr. was a professional painter John Jr thought he knew all about the trade.
“ I had no idea the amount of work it took to own your own business let alone master the skill of painting. I was treated as an apprentice from the start and this really humbled me.” John had to start small.
There were days and weeks of filling holes, sanding and learning how to caulk before he ever picked up a brush. Understanding how to prepare a job before painting begins was a something that John Jr. grasped quickly. John Jr relished the opportunity to get a brush in his hand and began to improve his painting skills. Over time, and with his Father as his mentor, John Jr. mastered his painting skills and enjoyed transforming projects to the desired look the client wanted.
“There’s something awesome that happens when you can take an older house and make it look new again or customizing a new house to the clients style. The best part of it all is seeing the look on the clients face when what they visualize comes to life.”
John Jr. enjoys life outside of the trade with his wife and dog residing in Baltimore County. He enjoys spending time exercising and following a healthy lifestyle regimen.
